Kane injury sparks Tottenham into action as striker bid is rejected

Tottenham and Burnley have both reportedly seen initial offers for Fenerbahce striker Vedat Muriqi rejected by the Turkish club.

Turkish newspaper Turkiye, as per Fenerbahce journalist Feridun Nigdelioglu, has claimed that the two Premier League clubs are keen on landing the 25-year-old hitman in January.

Spurs are potentially facing a spell without leading marksmen Harry Kane, after the England striker picked up a hamstring injury in the New Year’s Day defeat at Southampton, and the report adds that Jose Mourinho is ready to go all out to sign the Kosovan.

However, Fenerbahce president Ali Koc has been quick to snub any offers and has stated that Muriqi will stay with the Super Lig club at least until the end of the season.

Koc also spoke to Muriqi and informed him about the offers, with the player said to be fully focused on leading the line for Fenerbahce in the second half of the campaign.

Meanwhile, Mourinho has reportedly stepped up his interest in signing Leicester right-back Ricardo Pereira in the January transfer window.

The Portugal international, who has also been linked with a move to Manchester United, has established himself as one of the best right-backs in the Premier League.

The 26-year-old only joined Leicester in 2018 in a £21million deal from Porto and was awarded the club’s Player of the Season in his first year at the club.

The Daily Express claims that Mourinho is ready to rival United for Pereira, who is under contract at the King Power until 2023, and that Spurs are readying a £30m offer for the player’s services. Read more…
