Chelsea man confident Tuchel can mastermind Liverpool top-four hammer blow

N'Golo Kante, Thomas Tuchel Chelsea v Newcastle February 2021

Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante says that he is “sure” that his side can get a “good result” from Thursday’s meeting with Liverpool.

The Blues travel to Anfield able to climb into the top four with a draw.

Thomas Tuchel’s visitors sit a point behind West Ham in fifth, with Liverpool two behind in fifth.

As such, Liverpool can also move into the top four with a win and reaching the Champions League spots would prove a key accomplishment for both sides for different reasons.

Liverpool‘s poor form since before Christmas has seen them slip from top spot. Chelsea, meanwhile, sat eighth upon Tuchel‘s appointment and have gone the other way since.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Kante insisted that he feels hopeful of a positive result on Merseyside.

“It is an important game for us, we are very close in the league,” the 29-year-old said.

“We go there for a win. We know that it is not going to be easy but we go with hope, and I’m sure that we can get a good result from Anfield.”

As well as Chelsea and Liverpool, however, Aston Villa and Everton could yet stake a claim for a top-four finish.

The Toffees sit level on points with their city rivals and have a game in hand. What’s more, Villa could reach 45 points – West Ham’s tally now – if they win their two games in hand.

“Now it’s our challenge to get this position,” Kante added.

“Man Utd, Leicester and West Ham are ahead of us, but we still have many games to play, and if we’re doing well then we have the ability to get this position.

“We need to fight for it, to prepare to it, and to do everything we can to get in this top four.”

Liverpool beat Chelsea 2-0 at Stamford Bridge earlier in the campaign.
