Roy Keane: Getting his message across

Roy Keane has questioned Manchester United’s appointment of Jose Mourinho as manager, admitting the former Chelsea boss is “not my cup of tea”.

Mourinho was confirmed as Louis van Gaal’s replacement on Friday and has been tasked with returning United to glory, after three turgid seasons following the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson.

However former Red Devils captain Keane admits he finds Mourinho “irritating”.

In 2014, Keane branded Mourinho “disgraceful”, after the then Chelsea manager tried to shake hands with him and Paul Lambert before full-time in Aston Villa’s 3-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge.

When asked about Mourinho’s arrival at Old Trafford, Keane told ITV Sport: “He was always going to be a good option when United didn’t qualify for the Champions League.

“He was available, fantastic CV and it seems like a good fit, but maybe he is not for me.

“He is not my cup of tea. I found him really irritating when I coached against him, but that is just a personal thing, but working at Man United is all about winning and his CV will tell you he is a winner.”
