Keita, Fabinho and Lallana named in predicted Liverpool line-up

Liverpool face Chester on Saturday afternoon in their first friendly of the summer and the Liverpool Echo have made an attempt to predict a starting line-up.

Despite half of Liverpool’s first-team squad being at the World Cup, Liverpool can still name a strong starting line-up featuring almost £100m of new midfield signings.

The game clashes with England’s quarter-final clash with Sweden.

Loris Karius is expected to start in goal, with reports suggesting that he will actually be Liverpool’s first-choice keeper again next season.

The full-backs could be Nathaniel Clyne and Andy Robertson, while Joe Gomez and Ragnar Klavan are the obvious choices in the centre of defence.

The midfield is where it gets sexy, with new signings Naby Keita and Fabinho being joined by either James Milner or Adam Lallana, with the Echo plumping for Lallana.

With all three of Liverpool’s usual attackers absent, there could be chances for Divock Origi, Ben Woodburn and Harry Wilson, who could be watched by a whole wealth of Championship clubs keen to take him on loan.

Predicted line-up: Karius; Clyne, Gomez, Klavan, Robertson; Fabinho, Keita, Lallana; Woodburn, Wilson, Origi.
