Martin Keown has revealed one concern he has about Mikel Arteta’s management style at Arsenal.
The Gunners recorded a comfortable 3-0 win over Fulham on the opening day of the season and Arteta was delighted with the effort from his players.
The former Man City assistant boss is beginning to stamp his authority on the club. The FA Cup final win and Community Shield triumph have led to many plaudits for Arteta and his side, but Keown has sounded a warning.
The former Arsenal defender is concerned about Arteta communicating effectively with his squad.
“Arteta talks in four or five different languages,” Keown said on BT Sport, as quoted by the Metro.
“That would worry me because I’d like to hear some of it in English if I was an English player. [Arsene] Wenger said ‘one language, a common language’.
“Nonetheless, he’s a fantastic communicator and he’s getting that message across.
“And when you do talk a lot, as I am now, you’ve got to get results because people stop listening.”
West Ham chase Kolasinac
West Ham have targeted Arsenal hard-man Sead Kolasinac and Chelsea star Emerson Palmieri as they hunt for a new left-back.
That’s the news coming via The Athletic’s David Ornstein, who suggests David Moyes is looking to create some competition for Aaron Cresswell.
The report claims Moyes wants to bolster his defence after their opening, sorry 2-0 home defeat to Newcastle.
In which order the Hammers are looking at the duo is unclear, but both players could well be available.
