De Bruyne contract concern, as agent admits statement maybe ‘woolly’

Kevin de Bruyne will chase an ‘improved contract’ if Man City lose their CAS appeal against the two-year ban from the Champions League, claims a report.

The Belgium midfielder has been imperious for City since the Premier League restart with three goals and two assists in six games.

However, De Bruyne will be hit by a €3.5m loss in bonuses if City are excluded from Europe’s top competition.

City will find out on July 13 whether there appeal has been successful and Belgian outlet HBvL as cited by Sport Witness, report that De Bruyne will ‘certainly ask’ to be compensated if they miss out on two season’s of European competition.

De Bruyne has three years left on his existing deal, which is worth around £350,000 a week.

Rumours of the 29-year-old star looking for a way out at The Etihad have been brushed off by De Bruyne’s agent though.

He has told Sporza: “At the moment he is not at all busy with that. He still has a three-year contract with a team that belongs at the top of the world, at a club and in a city where Kevin feels good and appreciated.

“There will be many people who find this woolly, but he’s not thinking about a transfer.”

Always ‘informal interest’

De Koster admits that there is always transfer talk surrounding the best players.

De Koster added: “There is always an informal interest for a good player in the football world. Whether that is KDB or Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo or Antoine Griezmann.

“If everything I read in the papers were correct, then I would need a 48-hour watch and to be all over the world at the same time. I can declare in good conscience here and even swear on my children’s head that everything I read is 90% rubbish.”
