Arsenal midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan will not play again this season unless the club makes the Europa League final, a report claims.

The Daily Mirror states that the Armenia international suffered knee ligament damage in the Gunners’ 4-1 first leg win over CSKA Moscow in the Europa League.

This was the club’s worst fear, and it means that he will now miss the remainder of the Premier League season.

Mkhitaryan arrived at the Emirates Stadium in January in a swap deal involving Alexis Sanchez, who went to Manchester United.

The 29-year-old has scored an impressive seven goals in 16 games in the Europa League across his time with United and Arsenal, meaning he will be a big miss for the Gunners in their hopes of securing Champions League football next season by winning the competition.
