Arsenal are considering a move for Real Betis defender and Manchester City target Junior Firpo, according to reports.

Spanish outlet AS claims that a number of clubs are interested in Firpo, with the 22-year-old having impressed greatly so far this season with Betis.

He got on the scoresheet at the Nou Camp on Sunday night, helping inflict Barcelona’s first home loss in two years as the Seville-based club prevailed 4-3 in a thriller.

Now, Firpo is apparently attracting interest from Premier League giants Arsenal and Manchester City ahead of a possible January move.

The player is understood to have a release clause of £43.5million (€50m) after penning a new deal last summer.

Unai Emery is apparently keen on signing Firpo as a replacement for the ageing Nacho Monreal, with Sead Kolasinac out of favour with the Gunners currently.

Serie A side Torino are also reportedly in the race, however City may hold the key as Firpo’s agent Pere Guardiola is the brother of Pep.
