Jurgen Klopp has given a clear indication that Liverpool “will not be too busy” in the January transfer market.
The Reds have added Takumi Minamino to their squad with the signing from Red Bull Salzburg training with Klopp’s men on Tuesday.
The attacker is not eligible to face Sheffield United on Thursday, a rule which has baffled Klopp, but the new signing will be thrown into the squad.
Klopp said: “He will come into contention for Everton. He’s not allowed to play against Sheffield United. Does anyone know why?”
Asked if he knew the January window is open, Klopp replied: “I know the transfer window is open. It’s always tricky. But we probably will not be too busy. We will see what happens but it isn’t likely.”
So with no more new additions likely at Anfield, Klopp was quizzed about where Minamino was likely to fit into his table-topping side.
“We didn’t bring him (Minamino) in to accept he is number four or five in attack. He can play in several positions. We have many options, I don’t have to know where he can start right now. We need to use his natural skills, as natural as possible,” said Klopp
“We will start learning about each other from now on. But we signed the player from Salzburg – we want him to be that player who played against us.
“It would be nice if you and all the other people would give him time.”
