Klopp considering Liverpool trio to provide huge cash boost for Haaland raid

Erling Haaland TEAMtalk

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is considering cashing on one or more of his famed front three to raise funds for Erling Haaland, a report claims.

Thirty-one goals in 30 games this season have propelled Haaland to the centre of transfer attention across Europe.

The Borussia Dortmund striker has potential suitors in the Premier League and could find a new club this summer.

The Manchester Evening News claims that the 20-year-old has become Manchester United’ top striker target this summer.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are considering including a 2020 signing as part of a tempting player-plus-cash approach.

Liverpool lave largely been dismissed as contenders in the race for Haaland; their Fenway Sports Group (FSG) owners operate on a tight budget and only spend what they earn.

However, according to Mundo Deportivo, the Reds could yet stake a strong claim to sign the striker.

The Spanish newspaper reports (via Sport Witness) that Klopp is considering selling one or more of his front three in a bid to raise funds.

Norway coach Lars Lagerback believes Erling Braut Haaland has the potential to be as good as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Such an approach would fit in with FSG’s policy. What’s more, it would mirror Philippe Coutinho’s sale to Barcelona in 2018, which has more than paid its dividends.

Following the Brazilian’s sale, Liverpool brought in Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker, who have led Liverpool to Champions League and Premier League glory.

Mundo Deportivo adds that Klopp is looking to reinvigorate his team with a top new signing.

The Athletic, meanwhile, adds that Liverpool will target a new forward regardless of where they finish in the Premier League this term.

As for who could go from the club’s front line, Mohamed Salah has met exit speculation this season. However, the Egyptian has maintained stellar form and has 25 goals this season.

Sadio Mane, meanwhile, has largely dropped off despite scoring in both legs of the Champions League win over RB Leipzig.

Finally, Roberto Firmino has failed to escape criticism for his lack of input with goals for some time.

Liverpool won 1-0 against Wolves on Monday, but their winning goal came from Diogo Jota – the latest addition to the front three.

The win moved Klopp’s men back up to sixth, five points behind fourth-placed Chelsea with nine games remaining.

As such, Jamie Carragher does not believe that Liverpool have it in them to muster a late top-four charge.
