Klopp faces disaster with incredible Liverpool target ‘keen’ on Man Utd move after Ten Hag ‘presents project’ to star

Giovanni Di Lorenzo, Kim Min-jae and Victor Osimhen of Napoli

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp could be left frustrated in his pursuit of a world-class Napoli star after a journalist revealed Manchester United to be the best-placed club to complete a massive deal for him.

Napoli capped off an incredible season by being crowned Serie A champions on May 4. It is a brilliant achievement for a club which has long been in the shadow of Italian rivals Juventus, AC Milan and Inter Milan.

Napoli were also viewed as one of the most deadly clubs heading into the latter stages of this season’s Champions League, given their exceptional form. However, their dream of European glory came crashing down in the quarter-finals when they were beaten by Milan.

Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis has a big job on his hands to keep most of the big players in Napoli’s title success at the club. Sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli has been tipped to leave this summer and has been linked with Premier League clubs Man Utd, Tottenham and Chelsea.

Striker Victor Osimhen is a target for Man Utd and Chelsea. Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain have also been linked with him, although it seems a move to England is more likely at this point.

Osimhen could be followed to the Prem by dominant centre-half Kim Min-jae. According to WhoScored, Kim has been Napoli’s fourth-best player this season, picking up an average rating of 7.1. No Napoli player has registered more clearances or blocks per game in the league this term.

On Wednesday, it was claimed Man Utd were on the verge of agreeing a €55million (£48m) deal with Napoli for the defender.

An update on Kim’s situation has now arrived via French source Foot Mercato. They claim Liverpool ‘remain interested’ in Kim, despite Man Utd pushing to sign him.

Liverpool could see top target head to Man Utd

Klopp would love to add the South Korea international to his squad as he could form an unbreakable centre-back partnership with Ibrahima Konate, once Virgil van Dijk retires.

But Klopp’s defensive plan is facing ruin as Man Utd are getting closer to capturing the star. Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag has ‘presented his project’ to Kim to explain where the club is heading and where the player himself fits in.

This seems to have worked wonders as the 26-year-old is now ‘keen’ on a switch to Old Trafford. Foot Mercato add that Man Utd ‘will insist’ for Kim’s signing in the next few weeks, which suggests they will enter into advanced discussions to try and get an agreement sorted.

It seems previous claims that Man Utd have already agreed a deal for Kim were wide of the mark. But Kim is certainly leaning towards a Man Utd move over Liverpool if the latest reports are to be believed.

Kim would be a brilliant capture for Ten Hag. He could compete with Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane for a starting spot over the next two seasons before eventually displacing the latter, who is now 30 years old.

Kim’s arrival at Old Trafford would almost certainly mean Harry Maguire gets sold. The Man Utd captain, who cost the club £80m in 2019, has failed to impress Ten Hag this season.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are reportedly mobilising ahead of signing a top player Ten Hag wants at Man Utd.
