Jurgen Klopp has been handed a boost as Adam Lallana is set to step up his rehabilitation ahead of a return from injury.

The England international is yet to feature for Liverpool this season after suffering a thigh injury during the club’s preseason preparations.

The 29-year-old is nearing return however, and will feature in a behind-closed-doors friendly at Melwood next week according to Metro.

Lallana is aiming to get back to fitness by the end of the international break by playing in the friendly, which will feature a mix of youth players and senior squad members who were not called up for national team duty.

Liverpool’s next Premier League fixture is against Southampton on November 18, and Lallana is likely to be on the bench providing he suffers no more setbacks in the time in-between.

The return of the former Southampton man will be a boost to Klopp, who has also been able to call upon Sadio Mane recently following his return from injury.
