Jurgen Klopp is keeping his fingers crossed that Emre Can will sign a new contract at Liverpool despite interest from Juventus, according to reports.

The Germany international is now heading into the final year of his contract at Anfield with the versatile player proving useful in a number of positions in defence and midfield last season.

He provided five goals and two assists in 2016-17 and has reportedly caught the attention of Serie A side Juventus with La Gazzetta dello Sport claiming that the Reds would demand £26.5million for the midfielder.

The Daily Mail reports, however, that Can is edging ever closer to signing a new deal with the Reds with the hierarchy making it clear to the 23-year-old that he remains in their plans going forward.

Doubts may have sprung into Can’s mind recently with speculation linking Liverpool with a big-money move for Naby Keita from Bundesliga side RB Leipzig.

The report continues by suggesting that the midfielder could put pen to paper as soon as he returns from his holiday after playing in Germany’s triumphant Confederations Cup side.
