Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is hoping that transfer target Virgil van Dijk is in for a difficult afternoon at Anfield on Saturday.
The Reds take on Southampton at the weekend, coming up against a player they chased all summer in the Saints defender.
Van Dijk was Klopp’s top target as he looked to sign a dominant force at the heart of his defence, but Liverpool had to back off after Saints put in a complaint about their pursuit of the Holland star.
The 26-year-old remains, however, a potential arrival at Anfield, particularly after Saints boss and former Reds defender Mauricio Pellegrino admitted that his star man could move on in January.
But speaking ahead of Saturday’s game, Klopp would not be drawn on the matter: “You really expect an answer? What happened in the summer? I have nothing to say about that.”
But when asked if life could be difficult for the Dutchman at Anfield, he replied: “Hopefully. It should be difficult for every player coming to Anfield. Hopefully it’s difficult for him.”
