Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp says his side plan to “attack” the Premier League next season in a bid to win their second successive title.

The Reds ended their 30-year wait for the top-flight crown last Thursday courtesy of Chelsea’s defeat of Manchester City.

Indeed, Liverpool have had an iron grip on top spot this term after a rampant run of 28 wins from 31 games.

And Klopp says his players will have a similar mentality next term, rather than looking to defend their title.

“[Manchester] City, Chelsea, [Manchester] United will all be strong next season,” the manager said.

“[They are] all in good shape and that is clear. Tottenham and Arsenal will not sleep, Leicester too.

“We have play 38 games and who wins most can win it. We will not defend the title, we will attack the next one. [It’s the] same situation.

“What we have achieved is something for history books. It is difficult and City is a super team. We have to show that we are ready for that.”

Klopp added: “As long as we stay humble and greedy we have a strong chance to be an uncomfortable opponent.

“I can say 100% I don’t feel finally satisfied. It’s a big step, an unbelievable one. But it’s not something I will mention to the boys when I meet them in 20 years’ time.”

KLOPP: GUARDIOLA RELATIONSHIP WON’T CHANGE

Klopp was speaking ahead of Thursday night’s clash with Pep Guardiola‘s Manchester City.

The German insisted that his relationship with Guardiola will not change despite Liverpool’s recent title win.

“It’s so long ago since I last met Guardiola. He is an exceptional guy,” Klopp said.

“I really like the family and I respect him a lot. We don’t have much contact and he is a competitor. He wants to win and accepts when he has lost. I had to learn (about losing) that more often than him.”

Klopp confirmed he has no other injury concerns other than the foot injury sustained by defender Joel Matip.
