Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has been referenced in an AS story about Kylian Mbappe’s future on Friday morning.
The German coach is an admirer of Paris Saint-Germain star Mbappe. And what’s more, the feeling is mutual.
Earlier this year, the 21-year-old said of the Anfield side: “What Liverpool do in this moment is amazing.
“They’re like a machine, they’ve found a rhythm and are like we play again, we play again. They’ve lost zero games. When you watch you think everything is easy but that’s not easy.
“The guys are focused, they play games every three days and they win, they win, they win.
“Now the problem is that everybody watches Liverpool, and everybody watches what we can do against them, so now they have to show they are strong again but it’s a very good team with a very good manager.”
Klopp has previously admitted that he would like one of the world’s marquee signings: “If we can get one of them in the future, we will see,” he admitted.
Klopp is even said to have spoken to Mbappe’s father about a potential move, but it’s widely thought the finances behind the deal would be out of reach for Liverpool.
However, the player’s future is back under the microscope.
The France international is on the front page of AS. Inside there is a ‘Klopp tempts him’ line.
The article discusses the future of the star, who Tuttosport have claimed is a £360m target for Juventus.
Apparently though Barcelona presidential candidate Víctor Font has already contacted his camp.
Mbappe hires lawyer
However, Barca and the Reds are ready for disappointment because Klopp has ‘already assumed’ the English champions cannot compete with Zinedine Zidane’s Real Madrid.
Mbappe is thought to prefer a move to the Bernabeu to team up with Zidane. And, per the source, via Sport Witness, he has made moves behind the scenes to get a transfer out of PSG.
He has hired expert sports lawyer Delphine Verheyden, who is one of the best around in Paris. She has a reputation of being relentless and is referred to as the ‘Iron Lady’.
AS insist that Real are in pole position for the player and he will sign for Los Blancos “if no mistakes are made”.
Mbappe is out of contract in 2022 and PSG are understood to have offered a new contract worth €150m net for five years. That deal was knocked back, but remains on the table.
The Old Lady are willing to spend big on Mbappe, a world record in fact, topping the £200m PSG paid for Neymar.
However, Juve’s wage bill would not be able to accommodate Ronaldo and the Frenchman, who is currently on £360,000-a-week in Paris.
