Klopp makes signal of intent over Liverpool youngster after stunning loan
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will include Rhian Brewster in the club’s pre-season training camp squad to assess his chances of a first-team role, according to a report.
Brewster recently arrived back at Liverpool’s Melwood training base after his stunning half-season loan with Swansea. The young forward scored 11 goals in 22 games as Steve Cooper’s side reached the play-off semi-finals.
Indeed, Brewster was influential until the end, scoring on the final evening as the club overturned a five-goal swing to dump Nottingham Forest out of the top six.
As such, the Daily Mail claims Klopp will hand him a role at the Reds’ pre-season camp ahead of the new season.
Liverpool will travel to Evian this month to prepare for the defence of their Premier League title.
That will give Brewster, who starred heavily in pr-season last summer, the chance to stake his claim for a back-up role with the champions.
Brewster ‘has goals, he has speed, and he has power’
Alternatively Brewster could be loaned out once again, with Swansea keen to take him back.
Brewster’s strike partner Andre Ayew was glowing of the 20-year-old’s talent.
“Rhian has everything to play for. He has goals, he has speed, and he has power,” said Ayew.
“He is still young, and he has a few things to learn and improve on, but when we are talking about a pure finisher and talent in front of the goal, he has it all.
“He has everything a striker needs to get, and that is very important.
“When you are 19 or 20, and you see the season he has had. If he continues to work hard, he is going to be a top, top player.”
Klopp though will allow Ben Woodburn to go on loan again immediately with German club Fortuna Dusseldorf leading the chase.
Woodburn, 20, helped Oxford United reach the League One play-off final last season.
He has previously had an unsuccessful spell with Sheff Utd.
