Mamadou Sakho: Will be dealt with

Jurgen Klopp says he will deal with the negative comments made by Mamadou Sakho ahead of Saturday’s 5-1 win over Hull City.

France international Sakho has not featured for the club since last April and was sent home from the club’s pre-season tour for his poor attitude and time keeping and his relationship with Klopp is set to become more strained after some ill-advised snapchat messages early on Saturday morning.

The 26-year-old sent a series of messages at 3.05am claiming “the fans deserve to know the truth” about his absence from the first team.

“I accept my situation but I can’t accept the lie. The fans deserve to know the truth. Now it’s three weeks since I am fit to play games. I finish all my rehabilitation work. They don’t want me to play also with second team lol! Why, I don’t know,” wrote Sakho.

Klopp has promised to deal with the centre-back’s outburst.

“I was confronted this morning with the news that maybe it was something I should know about. But on a match day I am in completely the wrong kind of mood for something like this.

“I know something was on the thing that I don’t use [Snapchat] but it is not the right moment to speak about it. It makes sense to think about it and then give the right answer.

“It is not positive, I would say. I will address the situation when I think it is the right moment. I haven’t decided when the right moment is yet but it is not Christmas,” said Klopp.

Sakho, who was forced to miss last season’s Europa League final having been suspended by UEFA for taking a fat-burning substance, but who was later cleared, has already reportedly told Liverpool he has “no intention” of leaving the club on loan.

The former PSG skipper has been frozen out at the club and the arrival of Ragnar Klavan has since pushed Sakho further down the central-defensive pecking order.

Earlier this week Klopp hinted at a problematic relationship with Sakho when he said: “It is about how close I feel he is,” after reports the player felt he was fit to return from an Achilles injury suffered in pre-season.
