Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp says it would be “very good” to see Jadon Sancho in a “red jersey”, but insists that such a prospect is highly unlikely this summer.

Sancho will be hot property across Europe in the coming months following his performances for Borussia Dortmund.

The winger has scored 20 goals and assisted 20 others this term, his best campaign in front of goal.

As such, reports claim Manchester United hold the strongest interest in the 20-year-old, with Chelsea among the sides also keen.

Liverpool have also been loosely mentioned in the running, but Klopp – while excited by the prospect – says a mammoth transfer to Anfield for Sancho would surprise him.

“A red jersey would look very good on Jadon Sancho,” the manager said at a BILD event. “But I don’t think such a transfer will take place this summer.

“He is a very interesting player. If he moved to Liverpool, I would be the most surprised of all.”

Klopp is celebrating after guiding Liverpool to their first Premier League title.

The Reds have won 28 of their 31 games and Manchester City’s defeat to Chelsea saw them clinch top spot.

German boss Klopp has since been hailed by many as the best manager in the world, but he is not interested in such acclaim.

“I can’t do anything with the title ‘Best coach in the World’,” he added. “But I know that together with the whole trainer team we are very good coaches.

“But I think Pep Guardiola is the best coach of the world.”

Koulibaly remains one of Europe’s best defenders amid his stellar tenure at Napoli.

And Klopp is reportedly keen to bolster his defence with the signing of the Senegal international.
