BRUNO FERNANDES A MUST FOR LIVERPOOL
Hope we do put a bid in for Fernandes. Cracking player.
Rob Fort Worth TX
We must buy him!!!
pinezes69
Ginger, Klopp said quite clearly this week that he only wants to buy players who are better than what we have, and I totally agree with him.
No point buying squad players as we have enough already (apart from LB maybe), we need players who will take us to the next level and win the PL, preferably next season
Notorious, quite right on improving the first eleven, what’s the point of buying a player if he doesn’t make our front 3 (for example) a bit scared for their places?
To win the PL and overcome the unlimited wealth of City, we have to buy game-changing players, and for me a top versatile attacker, should be the priority in this window
Songman
songman ok better!! but at the same time cheap or cheaper!! How on earth can this be done??? We need players to compete City for the title!

Of course that makes sense but that doesn’t mean just buying better “first XI players”, it could quite easily mean buying better “squad” players too.

i would have thought Pepe would be ideal for you guys and genuine competition for the front 3…

MAN UTD NEED TO STEP TRANSFER HUNT – AND QUICK!
Mac – If reports are to be believed we may be going into the season with what we have now! The window i mentioned would have been a fantastic one, a great start for Ole. But if we go into this season with just James and AWB then i’d be really worried.
happyhurling
@macguffin – I’m simply trying to gauge what you would consider a good transfer window if you think the additions of AWB, James, Maguire, Longstaff and Fernandes would not be a good one.
Manthistle
More comedy gold this morning. After letting the Bruno Fernandes shambles roll on all summer, the club have now decided to brief the media that we are not in for him or Pepe. Just after the guy has a very good game against Liverpool. You just couldn’t make up our transfer dealings. If Longstaff comes in, him and James would not be regular starters next season. If signing AWB is the height of our transfer ambition then we are in serious trouble.
N1xer
@blacky – That’s fair enough. Your latest post sounds a bit more balanced. You have your reservations which is understandable, but I’m hoping he becomes a success and hopefully this season. He needs to be blooded correctly. Not just thrown in at the deep end or given 10 mins in the EL and League Cup here and there.
Based on pre-season and last season at Palace, AWB appears to be the real deal though.
Manthistle
@n1xer – No doubt that James and AWB are exciting signings, but if that’s it and all we have let go is Herrera and Valencia on free transfers then this window has been a complete disaster and the exact opposite of what OGS was saying would happen back in May.
Its the lack of players moving on that pisses me off.
Wouldn’t surprise me if Pogba and Lukaku move on the final day and no one else comes in.
Manthistle
@happyhurling – I’m sure we’ll get somebody else although maybe not one of the targets. Papers report how we’re being offered players by agents left right and center so I’m sure Ed will be able to find a bargain just like the old lady walking around the market 10 minutes before closing.
Your compulsion to hype everything up is how we get into heated argument. Had we got all our targets it may be described as decent but you just have to pile it on calling it fantastic.
If we went by United valuations of the players they are all less than fantastic. How many players have you hyped up in recent seasons, and they are almost all considered deadwood now, even by yourself.
PS – James won’t play more than a handful of games, so it will be just AWB and if we went by your assessment Dalot was going to be the RB superstar.
MacGuffin
I could see Lukaku being allowed to leave on the last day but not Pogba. Unless we have time to seal deals he won’t be allowed to go. Lukaku is probably looked at in the light that if Rashford, Martial and Greenwood all chip in he won’t be missed. Probably an irresponsible way of looking at it but that’s how it is. Also if Inter are offering Perisic I’d refuse, we only wanted him to try and get the best from Lukaku so it would be idiotic to take if Lukaku is heading the other way.
killboye
@manthistle – we we’re never going to have a good transfer window the moment it became clear the budget was limited, Ed is playing the “no value” game, deadwood was being kept and Ed was intent on hanging onto Pogba Lukaku etc.
For me good would have been:
1] a mass clearout of deadwood
2] Summer spend that represented a massive investment ie 300m. not ticking over money you expect to spend when you already have a top team.
3] 6-8 new players … (a)1 big money top young player like Rio, Keane, Rooney were (b) 3-4 AWB/Maguire types (c) 3-4 prospects like James .
4] Sell Pogba and Lukaku at any price because Pogba is a bad apple.
We have lost 3 senior players in Valencia, Fellaini, Herrera so just replacing them (numerically) is hardly rebuilding or strengthening.
MacGuffin
N1xer-If Longstaff indeed comes in,he surely has to be a starter on regular basis and ahead of Matic-who as we all know is already dead! If the reports in Italy are correct and SMS & his agent are in Manchester to sign the deal, that surely means the #virusPogba is out, right? They are too similar players and cant play together! Wouldnt be surprised to see Pepe signing for someone else for £80m,and then next year be told that he is available-for £250m…..

WHY CAN’T TOMORI STAY PUT?
Tomori is expected to go on loan with Leicester and Newcastle the prospective Clubs. I wouldn’t let him go to Leicester because of Rodgers he’s failed us previously on loan moves whereas at Newcastle Tomori should play, he will get plenty of defensive practice and would learn under a previous very good Centre Back.

I found it a pity that Tomori has to go on-loan. He looked pretty comfortable against Barcelona. Just there are Luiz, Rudiger, Christensen and Zouma all ahead of him. Probably even Azpi should Lampard want to play with 3 centre backs. I think as long as it’s a Premier League team and he will play regularly, any club will do.
And as Zouma now stays, would Everton try to get Tomori on-loan? Don’t like to do any business with them, but Zouma clearly benefited from his experience at Everton on-loan.
I found this article interesting:

BAYERN NEED REPORTING OVER UNSETTLING PLAYERS
Aindro, Sky are still reporting that the (Hudson-Odoi) deal is £180k pw on their site the only media outlet to do so everyone else is reporting £100k pw.
The deal is yet to be signed so at the moment everything is speculation including Hudson Odoi agreeing to sign a new deal.
There is speculation about the length of the deal and his shirt number one way or other it will all come out in the wash soon enough.
nine nine nine
agree 999. It’s speculation, nothing is sure until the club officializes everything. Even then, I don’t think any salary info will be disclosed.
Other rumours that I read this morning:
– Loan Clarke-Salter to Birmingham.
– Loan Matt Miazga to Reading.
– Loan Lewis Baker to Fortuna Duesseldorf
aindro
I see Bayern have turned their attention to Man.City winger Sane now that it seems they will lose out by Odoi signing and opting to stay at Chelsea.Bayern are openly and brazenly expressing a desire to acquire the Man.City player without the courtesy of first approaching the player’s club,I think that’s what turned Callum Odoi’s head in the first place,Bayern tapping up players like no one’s business. How come Bayern not getting their wotsits chewed off with threats to report them to the football authorities…there would’ve been near nuclear armageddon if it was Chelsea straying of the dtraight and narrow!
mtal61
Agree with you mtal something needs to be done about Bayern and how they try and unsettle players they want to try and sign.
nine nine nine
Bakayoko, Drinkwater and Zappacosta can go. Too many players in their positions plus they haven’t shown anything much from all the reports I seen. I would like Gilmour and Gallagher added to the squad.
