Romelu Lukaku: Key to Everton's remarkable comeback against West Brom

Arouna Kone believes Everton “will be able to do something” in the Premier League this season if they carry on playing as they did at West Brom.

Kone scored either side of a Romelu Lukaku brace on Monday night as Everton came from two goals behind to win 3-2 at The Hawthorns, climbing to fifth in the Premier League as a result.

Kone now hopes the Toffees can replicate the performance on a regular basis.

“I think it was a really great performance for the team and a great victory,” Kone said.

“If we can play like that then I think this year Everton will be able to do something in this league.”

Kone only played the final 18 minutes at West Brom but has set his sights on a regular spot alongside Lukaku once fully fit again.

“When Lukaku is at his best, he helps the whole team play well,” Kone added.

“He’s a very good striker and proved it by scoring two at West Brom and setting up my goal. It’s what makes him such a good team player.

“The manager tells me he needs me fresh and tells me I can help Romelu up front.

“He told me I have to score in this game. I am feeling very well now but I am still not 100 per cent.

“But I continue to work on my fitness and I’m sure I am going to help the team this year.

“That’s because now I am feeling good and every day is very important for me.

“After doing well at West Brom I want to play Liverpool. I can’t wait because it is such a big derby.

“It’s huge for all the players because it’s so important to beat our close rivals.”
