Krul signs new Toon deal; returns to homeland on loan

Newcastle goalkeeper Tim Krul has signed a one-year contract extension with the Magpies – and joined Ajax on loan until the end of the season.
The 28-year-old has committed his future to the Sky Bet Championship side until the summer of 2018 but will spend the remainder of this season in his homeland with the Dutch giants.
Ajax have moved to land Krul following the departure of Jasper Cillessen to Barcelona.
Krul, who has won eight caps for Holland and has made 185 appaerances for the Magpies in all competitions since joining the club in 2005, is currently recovering from injury.
He suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in October but is back in training and could be available again next month.
Meanwhile, striker Adam Armstrong has joined Krul in pledging his future to the Magpies.
The 19-year-old, who scored 20 goals in a loan spell at Coventry last season, has signed a new four-year deal at St James’ Park.
