Mbappe set to announce final future decision after informing Real Madrid president Perez

Kylian Mbappe celebrating for Paris Saint-Germain

Kylian Mbappe has chosen to accept the contract renewal offer from Paris Saint-Germain – and has told Real Madrid of his final decision.

Mbappe would have become a free agent in the summer unless PSG could renew his contract. One of the best players in the world, eyes were lighting up in Madrid about the chance to sign him.

For a long time, it seemed a foregone conclusion that the former Monaco man would be moving to La Liga. However, PSG never gave up hope of keeping him.

On Friday, it was reported that Mbappe had offers on the table from both PSG and Madrid ahead of the new season. Now, he has made up his mind.

Various sources are reporting that Mbappe will sign a new deal with PSG after all. According to L’Equipe, it is expected to last for three seasons.

The news has been verified by several respected sources, including Fabrizio Romano – who states Mbappe has called Real president Florentino Perez to let him know he will not be joining them.

If the length of the new deal is for three years, Mbappe would stand every chance of breaking Edinson Cavani’s tally as PSG’s record scorer. Mbappe is 32 away from Cavani’s record of 200.

By extending his contract, PSG will also be able to attain a transfer fee for Mbappe if they decide to sell him before the new terms expire. But they will be hoping his commitment can help them to their ultimate aim of winning the Champions League in the near future.

This season’s finalists, Real Madrid, will feel let down by the development. In fact, Foot Mercato reveal they had big plans for the World Cup winner, such as offering him the number 10 shirt currently worn by Luka Modric.

Instead, Mbappe will continue in his hometown of Paris. He could announce his decision after their last Ligue 1 game of the season, against Metz on Saturday evening, as hinted at by Gianluca Di Marzio.

Mbappe stay huge boost for PSG

Keeping Mbappe away from the clutches of one of Europe’s most successful clubs will be a major boost for PSG.

After acquiring the likes of Lionel Messi and Sergio Ramos last summer, the Ligue 1 giants are growing in stature all the time.

Retaining one of their top talents will be just as important. Many feel Mbappe will be capable of competing for the Ballon d’Or throughout his career.

Still only 23, there could yet be the chance for him to join Real in the future. For now, though, his preference is to stay in Paris.

It should give the side from the French capital even more confidence ahead of next season. It is further proof they are now a major force when it comes to attracting players.

Now, they will have to try and build a team Mbappe can be part of to chase their big target.
