Lampard factor to aid Chelsea in overcoming key Havertz ‘problem’

Frank Lampard Chelsea TEAMtalk

The lure of working with rising manager Frank Lampard has been cited as a potential factor in getting Kai Havertz’s transfer to Chelsea over the line, though one key problem still remains.

The Blues have acted fast to bolster their attacking potency in the summer transfer window.

Assist-king Hakim Ziyech signed on the dotted line in February, while German hotshot Timo Werner soon followed to the tune of £47.5m.

The spending spree doesn’t look like it’ll end their, however, with Chelsea hot on the heels of another German – Kai Havertz.

The Bayer Leverkusen playmaker has been identified as the ideal man to pull the strings in Lampard’s attack going forward.

Indeed, one voice even claimed his influence would be enough to dethrone Liverpool and Man City’s stranglehold on the Premier League.

With Leverkusen’s season now over following their exit from the Europa League, Chelsea will reportedly ramp up their efforts.

The issue of valuation has thus far proved one stumbling block, but according to Sky Sports’ transfer guru Kaveh Solhekol, Lampard’s pull may prove decisive.

“Havertz has made it clear he wants to move to Chelsea,” said Solhekol.

“Leverkusen want £90m; Chelsea are thinking they may be able able to do a deal for around £70m.

“But the player really wants to move and wants to work with Frank Lampard.”

Willian Lampard Chelsea TEAMtalk

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has reportedly managed to lure Willian to The Gunners with a long-term contract and the promise of a change of position.

The Chelsea star waved goodbye to Stamford Bridge this week after seven years with the club with an emotional statement.

The 32-year-old was chasing a new three-year contract at the Bridge, but Chelsea would not shift on a two-year deal and the winger decided to move on.

The Brazilian is widely expected to pen a deal between £100,000 and £150,000-a-week to join Arsenal, signing a three-year contract.

And Arteta, according to the Daily Mirror, plans on using Willian in a central role.
