Paper Talk: Real Madrid will enforce €500m release clause for Man Utd target

Federico Valverde TEAMtalk

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s pursuit of a Real Madrid midfielder may well have hit a brick wall, while Liverpool’s hope of keeping Sadio Mane has been given a boost, all in Sunday’s papers.

€500m FOR UNITED TARGET VALVERDE

Any hopes Manchester United had of getting their hands on rising star, Federico Valverde have been dashed.

The 21-year-old Real Madrid midfield enforcer has been superb in LaLiga and via the Sunday Mirror “comparisons have even been made between him and Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard”.

Real boss Zinedine Zidane looks like a big fan of the Uruguay international and, according to Diario Madridista, Real will insist any interested party will have to match the player’s release clause of €500m to prise him away from the Bernabeu.

According to OK Diario (via Le10 Sport), United have made a deal for Valverde a “priority” for the summer transfer window in a deal that will be done to make up for Paul Pogba’s exit.

Valverde enjoyed a solid breakthrough season in LaLiga last term with 25 appearances last term but he has stepped his performances up a notch this campaign with 32 outings.

Indeed, with Luka Modric and Toni Kroos in mixed form throughout the season, Valverde has impressed to fill the gap and has become a vital part of Zidane’s side.
