Adam Forshaw: Named Man of the Match on Sunday

Leeds have announced the signing of midfielder Adam Forshaw from Sky Bet Championship rivals Middlesbrough for £4.5million.

Forshaw, 26, has put pen to paper on a four-and-a-half-year contract and will go straight into head coach Thomas Christiansen’s squad for Saturday’s home league game against Millwall.

“I’m made up, as soon as I knew Leeds were interested I wanted to come here,” the player said.

“With the size of the club, the history, everything just felt right and I can’t wait to get going.”

Forshaw appeared destined for Cardiff before Leeds entered the race for his signature, it was reported this week.

He began his career at Everton, making two senior appearances, and joined Brentford, initially on loan in early 2012 before the move was made permanent the following May.

Forshaw won automatic promotion to the Championship with Brentford in 2014 and moved on to Wigan and then Middlesbrough, who paid an undisclosed fee in January 2015.

He made a total of 103 appearances for Middlesbrough and helped them win automatic promotion to the Premier League in 2016, but fell out of favour under previous boss Garry Monk and current manager Aitor Karanka and has featured on only 14 occasions this season.
