Leeds confirm loan signing of Man City winger

Leeds have signed England Under-21s winger Jack Harrison on loan from Manchester City.

The Sky Bet Championship club announced the 21-year-old has arrived at Elland Road on a season-long loan deal.

Harrison joined City in January after arriving from New York City, where the winger scored 14 goals in 55 Major League Soccer games.

Harrison, who was a part of Manchester United’s academy, spent the second half of last season on loan at Middlesbrough but made just four appearances, all as a substitute.

He is looking to make more of an impression at Elland Road under manager Marcelo Bielsa, who has been given City boss Pep Guardiola’s approval.

“I spoke with Pep about him and he had a lot of encouraging words,” Harrison said about Bielsa to LUTV.

“A lot of (Guardiola’s) ideals and philosophy are built around some of the same ones (as Bielsa’s) so those similarities are helpful and I’m looking forward to it. For him to say that about Marcelo is really encouraging and motivating for me.

“Being at Middlesbrough I didn’t exactly have a good spell of games or anything like that so I’m just looking forward to getting on to the pitch, playing in front of the fans at Elland Road and showing everyone what I can do.”

Harrison is Leeds’ fourth signing of the summer. Chelsea duo Lewis Baker and Jamal Blackman have joined on loan, while left-sided player Barry Douglas signed from Wolves on a three-year deal.
