Leeds United defender Pontus Jansson has urged the club to prove their ambitions if they want to keep him this summer.

Jansson has become one of Leeds’ strongest players since his 2016 arrival, impressing enough to earn links to the Premier League.

The 27-year-old is in Sweden’s squad for the World Cup, and he confirmed yesterday that top flight clubs are interested in him.

“There is interest. All I know is that I’m going to stay in England,” he told Sportbladet.

“I really enjoy Leeds. But I want to see their ambitions, now is the time to get into the Premier League.”

Jansson has been linked to the likes of Southampton and West Ham, and a good performance in Russia could intensify any speculation.

He has previously stated that he would like to achieve his dream of playing in the Premier League by gaining promotion with Leeds.

Now, he wants to see how the club act in the transfer market, to see if that could be possible next season.
