Leeds United are reportedly interested in signing Newcastle striker Dwight Gayle, but will face competition for his signature.
According to the Daily Star, Marcelo Bielsa’s men are set to move for the forward if Kemar Roofe quits Elland Road for Belgium.
However, it’s understood that there is a two-way battle for Gayle, as Championship rivals Stoke City are also keen on the 28-year-old.
The report goes on to add that Newcastle boss Steve Bruce is prepared to grant the player a season-long loan exit, especially after the Toon landed Brazilian Joelinton in a record deal.

Gayle spent last season out on loan with West Brom, where he scored 24 goals and supplied eight assists in 41 games across all competitions.
Leeds could look to add him to their squad if they lose Roofe, who the Daily Mail claims is in talks about a potential £7million move to Vincent Kompany’s Anderlecht.
The 26-year-old would leave a big hole in the Leeds striking department, having scored 15 goals in an injury-hit 2018-19 campaign, but Gayle is a proven marksman at Championship level and would arguably be the perfect replacement for Roofe.
