Aiden McGeady: Everton winger set for Championship loan

Leeds United manager Steve Evans has confirmed their interest in Aiden McGeady – but admits a loan deal for the Ireland winger looks unlikely.

The former Celtic and Sparkak Moscow man admitted recently that he is unwilling to drop into the Championship, despite Leeds making their interest in the winger apparent.

Everton are happy to let McGeady leave on loan for the rest of the season with the 29-year-old needing to boost his Euro 2016 hopes by playing regularly.

But Whites boss Steve Evans admitted: “Speaking to Aiden’s representatives, he may have options in the Premier League.

“I do like Aiden McGeady but there has been no further chat with him in the last 10 days.”

Everton chief Roberto Martinez has revealed there is no update on either McGeady or Darron Gibson, while no replacement has been lined up for Steven Naismith.
