Leeds playmaker Saiz to face no charges over spitting claims
The Spaniard was accused by Port Vale boss Michael Brown of spitting in the face of one of his players during last week’s Carabao Cup clash at Elland Road.
Leeds expressed disappointment at the accusations in a statement released after the 4-1 win, in which Saiz scored a hat-trick on his debut, and were confident their summer signing was in the clear.
And the club announced on Tuesday night, shortly after the goalless draw at home to Fulham, that the FA had cleared Saiz of any wrongdoing.
The statement read: “Leeds United have received confirmation from The FA that Samuel Saiz will not face any charges with regards to an alleged spitting offence in our Carabao Cup tie with Port Vale.
“The player has been cleared of any wrongdoing and the club’s support for the player has been vindicated.”
