Leicester ace has message for Man Utd, Tottenham over £60m move

James Maddison TEAMtalk

James Maddison has reportedly told Leicester bosses that he is more than happy to stay, despite strong interest from Manchester United and Tottenham.

It is believed that the Red Devils and Spurs are preparing £60million bids for the England Under-21 midfielder, who was called up to the senior squad for the Nations League games against Croatia and Spain last October.

The former Norwich star scored seven goals and provided seven assists for the Foxes in the Premier League in 2018-19, and with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer expressing a desire to sign young British players – it would appear that Maddison was very much on United’s radar.

However, the 22-year-old is keeping calm about his future, and according to a report in the Daily Mail he could be persuaded to sign a lucrative new deal at the King Power Stadium.

Maddison’s current contract still has four years left to run but it is thought that he could see his current £50,000-a-week wage almost doubled to match the likes of top earners Jamie Vardy and Harry Maguire.

Indeed, Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers is desperate to keep a player who he wants to build a team around in the coming seasons.

For their part, Tottenham are viewing Maddison as an ideal alternative to Real Madrid target Christian Eriksen.

The Denmark playmaker recently dropped strong hints that he could move on this summer, and with Spurs looking to fetch a fee of around £80m for the 27-year-old – it si expected that a large amount of that fee will go on finding Eriksen’s replacement.
