Leicester close on Kante capture
The Foxes reportedly agreed a fee with Caen at the beginning of the month, but have had to wait patiently due to interest elsewhere, with both Arsenal and Marseille both pondering moves for the defensive midfielder.
But France Football have claimed Kante has agreed terms on a four-year deal with Leicester and will finalise the move before the weekend.
Should Kante complete a move to the Foxes, he will become Claudio Ranieri’s first signing since replacing Nigel Pearson at the helm.
Kante previously admitted that Ranieri’s appointment at the King Power Stadium could convince him to join.
“It’s important that they have a coach now – a few days ago, I didn’t know what Leicester was like, as there was no coach,” he told Tendance Ouest.
“For sure, it’s an important factor. For now, anyway, I am in Caen but we will try to resolve the situation with the club and my agents and I hope this matter gets sorted.
“I am in talks with several clubs and I will make my choice later – nothing is decided.”
The Foxes have been searching for a new midfielder since Esteban Cambiasso confirmed he would not return to the club this season.
