Premier League champions Leicester City are hoping to unearth their latest non-league diamond after taking Harrow Borough striker Ibrahim Meite on trial.

The 20-year-old striker, nicknamed The Shark for his predatory instincts in front of goal, has netted 10 goals in 14 appearances for the Ryman League club this season.

Such has been his form, he has attracted the attentions of a number of Championship and Premier League scouts – but it is the Foxes who have acted fastest by inviting the player for a trial, reports the Daily Mail.

The striker has spent this week being put through his paces with the Foxes coaching team and was said to have took part in a behind-closed-doors match on Friday.

Meite has scored in all three of Harrow’s FA Cup ties so far, against Sawbridgeworth Town, Uxbridge and Winchester City.

His last-minute goal in the latter of those has set up a home tie with either Hastings United or Margate in the fourth qualifying round, just one step away from the first round proper.

Jamie Vardy: Striker engulfed in racism row last year

Leicester signed their talismanic striker Jamie Vardy from non-league Fleetwood Town back in May 2012 and his 24 goals last season helped the Foxes to a remarkable Premier League title win and earned him an England place.
