Timo Werner TEAMtalk

RB Leipzig have joked about the rife speculation surrounding Timo Werner’s future by cheekily suggesting their hitman is heading to a team other than Liverpool.

The prolific German has risen to new heights in the current campaign, operating at a goal per game in the Bundesliga with 20 goals from 20 starts.

His soaring form has propelled Leipzig into a hotly-contested race to be crowned German domestic champions, something that has not gone unnoticed by the Premier League’s heavyweights.

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have been tipped as the most likely of suitors, with a €60m transfer recently touted.

A shock exit for incumbent centre-forward Roberto Firmino has hit the headlines, with the 23-year-old Werner seemingly the perfect replacement.

Football in the Olympics is classified as an under 23 competition, but the regulations allow for three players over the age limit to participate as well.

Egypt booked their place at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics football event after reaching the final stages of the 2019 U23 Africa Cup of Nations.

Shawky Gharib – Egypt’s U23 boss recently said: “Out of the three senior players we’ll call-up, Salah is the only one we’re settled on so far because he’s simply one of the top three players in the world,”
