Leon Bailey in no rush to leave Leverkusen despite shockingly low wages

Bayer Leverkusen star Leon Bailey says he will move to a big club, but is in no rush to do so.

The Jamaica-born winger is being tracked by a host of Premier League clubs as well as Serie A giants AC Milan.

Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal and Manchester United are all understood to be watching the player, who England are hoping may switch allegiances to join the Three Lions.

The Mirror on Sunday claimed that Gareth Southgate could call Bailey up to his World Cup squad if the 20-year-old decides to ditch the country of his birth.

Bailey says it’s a matter of “when” rather than “if” he will play at the highest level and for now he is happy in the Bundesliga with Leverkusen after scoring 11 goals and grabbing five assists this term.

“Leverkusen is perfect for me,” he told Bild. “I want to develop and then I can take the next step.

“When I move to a big club, the people there will want to know me. I want to make a name for myself at the highest level.”

The Daily Star report that Bailey’s form this season has seen his valuation rocket up from £35million to £60million, while they claim he is earning just £7,000-per-week.

Kicker however at the weekend claimed Bayer value Bailey the same as Ousmane Dembele, who left Borussia Dortmund for Barcelona last summer for £97million.

He is currently under contract in Germany until 2022 and he is likely to be offered a new contract regardless of what happens in the summer.
