Levy labelled a ‘genius’ for Tottenham’s summer transfer business

Daniel Levy

Jose Mourinho has described Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy as a “genius” for his work in the transfer window this summer.

Spurs brought back club legend Gareth Bale and also added Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Matt Doherty, Joe Hart, Sergio Reguilon and Carlos Vinicius in a busy window.

There also remain hopes they will complete a deal for highly-rated Swansea defender Joe Rodon before Friday’s EFL deadline.

But Mourinho was quick to praise his boss as he spoke ahead of Sunday’s clash with West Ham.

The Portuguese said: “Mr Levy showed once more that when he wants and when he is really involved he is a genius in the way he makes deals happen.

“More than I was expecting. We were talking about different targets but I never thought we would go so far as we did. I can only praise what the board did for the team.

“Now it’s for me and my staff and players to have a really good season.”

Kondogbia fuming over failed summer exit

Tottenham, Arsenal and Leeds target Geoffrey Kondogbia has publicly blasted Valencia president Anil Murthy over his failed summer transfer.

Valencia midfielder Kondogbia was reportedly of interest to Leeds, but Atletico Madrid were believed to be favourites to sign the 27-year-old.

La Liga journalist Hector Gomez claimed that Kondogbia wanted out of the LaLiga side, while Atletico were looking for a replacement for Thomas Partey.

Gomez reported both clubs were actively chasing the Frenchman, who looked unsettled in Spain.

In July Todofichajes claimed Arsenal remained keen on Kondogbia, who they have tracked for a “long time”.

Tottenham were tracking the player earlier in the year.

Kondogbia is out of contract at the Mestalla in 2022. That means Valencia are facing a race against time to sell him on for a profit. Read more…
