Levy hatches cunning plan as ‘most likely’ bidder for Harry Kane revealed

Harry Kane could see his chances of a summer exit from Tottenham thwarted by Daniel Levy, according to a report.

Kane has spent his entire professional career with Tottenham, only leaving for a few loan spells earlier in his career. He has been their most important player for a number of years. Sadly, he does not have a trophy to reflect that – which has led to him considering his future.

The England captain has previously warned Spurs that he won’t just stay with them for the sake of it if they are not matching his ambition.

Turning 28 before the start of next season, time is probably running out if Kane wants to move to a European giant. He is obviously still in the prime of his career, but if he wants to spend that at an elite club, he will have a decision to make.

Kane has been linked with Premier League rivals Manchester City and Manchester United. There is also long-standing interest from La Liga, where Barcelona have joined Real Madrid in the hunt.

The centre-forward has done little to deny rumours of an exit. He recently admitted he would review his club future after England’s Euro 2020 campaign ends in the summer.

That admission was followed by reports that he would be “seriously considering” a move away, amid the news of Barcelona’s interest.

However, such a scenario may not be as simple as he would hope if he does wish to leave.

According to The Sun, Tottenham chairman Levy will refuse to sell Kane to a Premier League rival. That would end his chances of joining City or United.

Furthermore, Levy has set an asking price of £175m to sell Kane to a foreign club. Neither Barcelona nor Real Madrid may be able to afford that.

Former Manchester United and Aston Villa goalkeeper Mark Bosnich says Spurs won't be keen to let Harry Kane leave but that, from the player's point of view, a move might benefit his career.

It is claimed that Madrid are the “most likely” to bid, but would not be able to get anywhere near what Levy wants.

Hence, Tottenham are hoping they will focus on their other attacking targets like Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe. Both younger than Kane, Madrid may prefer to choose them as a longer-term investment.

That could leave Kane stuck at Spurs – a situation he would not be entirely dissatisfied with. While he wants to win the biggest prizes, his love for his current club remains and he would not force his way out.

Remaining under contract until 2024, Kane’s future seems like it will still be at Tottenham. However, the club must convince him they are heading the right direction.

Tottenham told to ‘take the money’ for Kane

Levy’s characteristic tough negotiating stance goes against the advice one pundit recently gave the club about Kane.

Roy Keane claimed that the striker would have to leave.

“He’s a professional,” the fiery Irishman said. “If you’re a top player you want to win trophies.

“It’s a big few months coming up for Tottenham, the League Cup final, can they get in the top four? Huge question marks.

“Will that influence him? He’s obviously under contract, Tottenham will have a lot to say about it.

“But if you’re in his shoes and it comes to the summer, I think the guy has to move on to really win the big prizes. He’s not going to do it at Tottenham.

“He wouldn’t be the first player to sign a contract and then want to leave a year or so later.

“[Jose] Mourinho might have to say ‘’he keeps making these noises, let’s take the money and move on’.”
