Messi launches seething rant at Barcelona for ‘throwing out’ Suarez

Lionel Messi says he is “not surprised” at the way Barcelona chose to “throw” Luis Suarez out of the club, in his latest rant at the Catalan club.

Messi has endured a fractious relationship with Barcelona of late, which almost saw him leave in the summer. The Argentine announced his intention to find a new club, before deciding to retract his wish.

Nevertheless, Messi still has issues with his seniors and those problems have resurfaced again. The 33-year-old took to Instagram to launch a seething rant at how Barcelona handled Suarez’s exit.

Suarez has joined Atletico Madrid after new head coach Ronald Koeman informed him he does not feature in his plans.

“We’re going to miss you so much. We spent many years together, many mates, many lunches and many dinners,” Messi wrote (via Goal). “So many things we will never forget, all the time we spent together.

“It will be strange to see you in another shirt and much more to come up against you on the pitch. You deserved a farewell that fit with who you are: one of the most important players in the history of the club.

“Someone who achieved great things for the team and on an individual level.

“You did not deserve for them to throw you out like they did. But the truth is that at this stage nothing surprises me anymore.”

Suarez and Messi enjoyed a strong relationship in the six years they worked together at Camp Nou. However, Suarez has denied reports in Spain that Koeman decided the pair’s strike force was no longer a key part of the team.

Speaking in a press conference held amid his latest career move, Suarez said: “It’s been a crazy month. Things have been invented, things that are not true that have been leaked and that annoy you but we have to try to stay away from all that.

“Everyone knows the relationship I have with Leo. When you arrive at Barcelona they say to be careful with Leo and now after many years, Leo and I get along spectacularly and they say you are bad for him.

“We know the time we had in the team and that we tried to perform at our best and live up to what Barcelona is and in my case, I can leave feeling proud.”

Suarez scored 198 goals in 283 games for Barcelona, while also assisting 109 other strikes.
