Liverpool, Arsenal boosted as €100m target wants January exit

Liverpool and Arsenal target Ousmane Dembele has asked to leave Barcelona in the January transfer window, according to a report.

The French forward has struggled to settle in at Barcelona since moving from Borussia Dortmund in 2017, largely due to injury, and is ready to call time on his stay in La Liga.

According to Goal, Dembele has asked officials at Barcelona to allow him to leave when the transfer window opens in just over a month’s time. Liverpool have been heavily linked with the World Cup winner, despite Barcelona’s recent ambiguous response to rumours of an Anfield switch.

The report also claims that Dembele’s exit could facilitate a dramatic Barcelona return for PSG star Neymar.

Dembele has also been linked with Arsenal in recent weeks as Unai Emery looks to fill the void left by Danny Welbeck’s injury. Reports from Sport recently suggested that the 21-year-old could move to the Emirates Stadium for €100m in the summer.

However, it appears the attacker wants to seal his departure earlier than that, with a number of top clubs set to be interested in his signature.
