Liverpool, Arsenal target Lemar streets behind top Ligue 1 earners

L’Equipe have drawn up a list of the top earners in Ligue 1 and £90million-rated Thomas Lemar does not make the top 30.

Monaco winger Lemar, who almost joined Arsenal last summer and who is also a target for Liverpool, earns £22,000 a week with the Principality club and is on the same contract he signed in 2015 when he arrived from Caen.

The Daily Mirror claim Lemar does not make the top 30 highest paid players in France – collecting €100,000 (£88,000) a month.

Monaco are understood to have repeatedly offered him improved terms and a contract extension, but the 22-year-old has turned down the offers and looks destined to leave the club in the summer.

Lemar, who has scored three goals and claimed five assists this season, has a contract until 2020, but he will unlikely see that out and will be hoping to showcase his talents at the World Cup with France.

Lemar has eight caps for Les Bleus, but is expected to be named in Didier Deschamps’ France squad for Russia and his market value may well rocket if the winger impresses at the World Cup.

Brazil star Neymar is the undisputed No. 1 in the list after signing for Paris-Saint Germain for £198million in the summer. The former Barca forward is the world’s most expensive player and commands a salary of £677,000 a week – which equates to a gross monthly salary of €3,067,000 (£2.71m).

Nine of the top-10 best paid players in LIgie 1 are with PSG – only Radamel Falcao infiltrates the list on a monthly salary of  €750,000.
