Liverpool boosted as Real lose patience with midfield target

Liverpool have been handed a boost in their pursuit of a Real Madrid man as Florentino Perez is reportedly unimpressed with him.

Real Madrid may have come away from Cyprus with a 6-0 Champions League win against APOEL in midweek, but they are still not happy.

According to Diario Gol, Real Madrid president Perez is concerned that some players did not take the opportunity to impress during the victory.

The report claims that Liverpool target Lucas Vazquez is one of these players. The 26-year-old came on to replace Gareth Bale, and was considered as a useful squad player for Zidane last season.

However, the winger is struggling for form and subsequently has seen his playing time reduced this season under the Frenchman, factors which could push him towards the exit.

Other players who are apparently also in the shop window include Bale, who has had a number of injury problems since his arrival, and striker Karim Benzema.
