Barcelona goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen has reportedly told his friends he wants to leave Catalonia this summer.

After two years of being a back-up to Marc-Andre ter Stegen at Barca, the Dutch keeper apparently wants to make his mark as a No.1 goalkeeper and Liverpool are sure to be watching intently.

According to RAC1 via Sport the 29-year-old, who only made 11 appearances last season wants more game time, although he will not demand to leave Barcelona if an acceptable offer is not lodged.

Liverpool have been linked with the former Ajax man with Mundo Deportivo last month claiming that the Reds had approached the La Liga giants over the possibility of gaining his services

Jurgen Klopp has a goalkeeper at the top of their wishlist following Loris Karius’ terrible performance in their 3-1 Champions League final loss to Real Madrid.
It’s thought Roma’s Brazilian No.1 Alisson was his preferred target, but Sky Sports claim Klopp has been priced out of a move for €70m-rated Alisson with Real Madrid believed to be his favoured destination.

Last week Cillessen claimed he would wait until returning to pre-season training with Barca on July 16 to make a decision on his future.

“I think that I played well in the matches I had in the Copa del Rey,” Cillessen, who has also been linked with Napoli, Arsenal and Chelsea, told Fox Sports.

“I need to wait patiently. The only thing I know is that Barcelona won’t sell me. Arsenal and Liverpool aren’t bad clubs but if Barcelona say, ‘We love you’, then I’ll accept their decision and continue there.

“I’ll wait until we return on the 16 July to see what they’ve decided.”

Nine of Cillessen’s 11 appearances for Barcelona last season came in the Copa del Rey which Barcelona won by beating Sevilla 5-0, with a single game in the Champions League and LaLiga.

Cillesen is believed to have a €60m release clause in hid contract after joined the club for 16 million in 2016.

Don Balon however reported last night that Barca has lowered his asking price to €50m to stir up some interest.
