Sadio Mane: Forward set for Liverpool medical

Sadio Mane will undergo a medical at Liverpool on Monday as the forward moves closer to joining the Reds in a £30million deal.

Southampton were initially holding out for a fee of around £40million but appear to have reached a compromise after several weeks of negotiations.

Senegal international Mane will now travel to Liverpool to complete a medical and finalise personal terms, and will join former Saints players Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren and Nathaniel Clyne at Anfield.

Manchester United were interested in the 24-year-old in January, while Chelsea and Manchester City have also linked with a move for the former Salzburg man.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp turned his attention to Mane after growing increasingly frustrated in the club’s pursuit of Bayern Munich attacking midfielder Mario Gotze.

Southampton have already moved to replace their top goalscorer from last season by signing Nathan Redmond from Norwich for a fee of around £10million.
