Liverpool considering offer for Man Utd-linked winger with 14 goals in 15 games

Pedro Goncalves TEAMtalk

Liverpool are reportedly considering making an offer for Manchester United-linked winger Pedro Goncalves this summer.

Jurgen Klopp is expected to freshen up his attacking options at the end of the season, with the Reds being hit be the absences of Sadio Mane and Diogo Jota this term.

And one of those options is Sporting Lisbon star Goncalves, who has been in superb form this campaign.

According to Portuguese outlet Record (via the Daily Mirror), Liverpool made ‘informal contact’ during the January transfer window.

The report adds that the Premier League champions are also open to signing Goncalves in the summer. That is if Sporting decide they want to cash in.

The 22-year-old, who cost Sporting just £6million in August, has notched an impressive 14 goals in 15 league matches.

United are also known to have made contact last month with the club they bought Bruno Fernandes from.

While his contract until 2025 would normally protect his value, his €60million (£53million) release clause leaves the door open for top clubs to snap him up.

Following the 4-1 defeat to Manchester City at Anfield in the Premier League, Roy Keane described Liverpool as 'bad champions' and suggested they are making too many excuses for poor performances this season.

Goncalves mainly operates as a right winger, but also has the versatility to play as a central attacking midfielder.

Leeds star also on Klopp’s radar

Despite the winter window closing, Liverpool continue to be linked with new attackers, with a Leeds star also on their radar.

Klopp is said to be a big admirer of winger Raphinha, who has shone at Elland Road this term.

Should Mo Salah end up making a big-money move to Real Madrid this summer, then Goncalves and Raphinha have emerged as two options to replace the Egyptian.
