Early impressions of Emery’s squad

I think you are right in respect of the centre mid pairing….my guess is

4-2-3-1 but the 3 behind Auba will not be stuck to centre/right/left…much like he tried at Valencia and Sevilla as well as PSG (although thats more of a front 3)….

Czech/Leno
Bellerin/Lich Mustafi/Sokratis Monreal/Kolasinac

Torreira/Xhaka

Miki/Ramsey/Ozil…moving around the final third

Auba

fullbacks I would guess depends on opposition but get impression this is likely…some of the young lads might break the team though….

width per fullbacks I suspect so no need for an out an out winger…at least from the Boreham Wood game and what I see from training clips..whether Ozil fits in is the debate for me….maybe Iwobi will be better fit or Gomes if reports are to be believed…And for those of you ready to jump up and down and be negative and point out flaws…I already see flaws and benefits of this system its just an observation open to interpretation and may be well wide of the actual mark…I am not saying we do not need other players or anything like we need Zaha or similar…I am merely speculating on highlights of a game in which players did not play…much like journos do all the time

hemay even pull Ramsey further back much like Croatia did with Modric and Rakatic and play Ozil/Miki in behind striker…but if we do get an out and out winger then obviously this would change.

Some Chelsea fans want Courtois to leave

Courtois has already hinted he might stay and see out the last year of his contract then leave on a free and suggested he’s too good for Chelsea to leave him out of the team if he does that and Chelsea paying him £200k pw which is the new contract offer undervalued him.

Totally fed up with Courtois he shows a complete lack of any loyalty to the club and the fans and I want him gone.

Seemingly and thankfully Sarri is not a fan and thinks his distribution when playing out from the back is flawed and don’t match his Sarriball strategy. Let’s hope so!😊

Martinez shooting his mouth off re Hazard. Somebody needs to remind him he is the the Belgium Manager full stop and that he has no say on transfers or where the Belgium players play their football.

nine nine nine

Said all this about Tbo when he arrived and had the gumption to demand first team football ahead of Chech who is still the better keeper. He’s too lethargic to be top top class.

I dont think he was the best keeper at the World Cup. He’s not even the best in the premiership and has coasted rather than develop into the worlds best keeper.

I’d take Navas and 40 million. I’d also be thinking about unsettling Evertons Pickford with a bid. Cheap option would be Heaton from Burnley or Pope. Kasper Schmeichal had an awesome tournament and could easily step up. Outside of that, Southamptons former England keeper is available given they’ve signed someone from city.

I can never really understand why youth keepers never get a chance to play. Either way, I hope we push Tbo out the club and force a move upon him. But I suspect he’s going to wind down his contract.

Trouble is I dont think real or Barca need a keeper and Atletico dont either. His options are limited and PSG got their hands on Buffon who is still more than capable. If it does drag onto next season, might be a good idea to keep tabs on Newcastles stopper who was impressive last season transferring into the Premiership.

Keita is a better midfielder than Kante

Crazy statement when kante is a proven pl player and the best holding player in Europe in my opinion

Keita hasn’t even played a pl game ffs.

Why even say this and set your set up for a fall Songman?

Keita and fabhino might take a while to get to grips with the pl. no one knows how either will perform when neither have played in the pl.

Sean the sailor

Sean, why is that a crazy statement?

From what I’ve seen, my opinion is that Keita is a better midfielder than Kante, so let’s wait for the Premiership next season for proof as to who’s the best.

Last November I started the thread “Salah, better than Messi?”, because the evidence in showed me quite clearly that Salah was on his way to having a phenomenal season. Almost everyone here disagreed, yet he ended up being the best player in the Premiership, and just as good a season as Messi.

I hope Keita does likewise, or even close to that will suffice.

Songman

That’s a helluva statement, songman. Naby hasn’t kicked a ball in anger for us and doesn’t need a big cabinet for his honours. Kante, on the other hand, has won back to back Premier League titles with different clubs, won the FA Cup and the small matter of just having been a pivotal member of the new world champions. Hope you’re right mate, but it won’t be next season because all our new signings will take time to settle. And before you offer up Salah, he’s a one off and has Premier League experience.

Man Utd objectives for the season

WIN THE LEAGUE
Obviously going to be a tall order but i’m hoping Mourinho finds the right balance this season between defence and attack. I’d like to see us going for teams early and finishing them off the way City were last season. We did it a few times and we were looking really good up until that Liverpool game where we seemed to lose a bit of edge afterwards. Not sure what happened there. I’d be very disappointed if we didn’t put in a serious title challenge to City, would also be very disappointed if anyone else finished ahead of us.

GET OUR STARS FIRING!
It’s time for Sanchez, Pogba, Martial, Rashford, Lukaku and Lingard to fire us to glory. Let’s get them all playing properly, in their best positions with a game plan to get the best out of these guys. We should be able to steam roller the teams outside of the top 6, i know it doesn’t always work out that way but we need to start seeing these smaller teams off – especially the 3 promoted sides. Our results (and performances!) against the top 6 really improved last season and we finished 2nd only to City in that mini-table. I’m hoping we can still pull off the big wins as well this season.

THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE
The loss to Sevilla was definitely the low point in the season for me, i couldn’t seem to get myself as excited about watching United play after that and was glad when the season was finally over. This time round we must improve on our CL place, we should be aiming to get to the semi-finals at least i think. If Liverpool can do it!!!

Other than that hopefully we see lots of goals and great play by some of these amazing star players that we have – looking forward to seeing some youngsters progress as well.
