Blues fans react to Joe Cole retirement

Joe Cole has announced his retirement from playing.

Thanks for the memories Joe and for pointing Eden Hazard in the right direction.😊

Probably the best £6m we’ve ever spent!

Nine nine nine

Joe was a fantastic footballer and talent and he was part of Chelsea’s greatest ever team.

Great memories.

I thought he was overrated myself. Missed too many decent chances and made critical errors 🙂 🙂 🙂

Seriously, LOVE Joey Cole.

My son and I attended a CL game at the Bridge many years ago vs Lazio. With the game 2-1 in our favour Joey came on with fifteen to go. He kept the ball, and at one point protected the ball by the corner flag for what seemed like five minutes!!

Top lad. Hope he manages to progress his pundit career. He was good on BT recently.

Going to get a lot of abuse for this but must admit was never a fan of Cole. I thought he was inconsistent and wasteful, however, there was no denying the fact that on his day he could be a game changer (just not enough good days for me)

That being said he played a lot of games for Chelsea and was a loyal servant while he was here and actually pleased that he moved into a player coach role in the US and hopefully he will continue to coach. Who knows, maybe one day he will return to the Bridge in some capacity…?

Chelsea crying out for consistency

Willian Chelsea

Never had a problem with constructive criticism as I had myself with Morata again on Sunday with his off-sides all the time as well as return to this going down injured thing and trying to get penalties all the time which I had hoped he was getting over. Of course, when there is a legit claim for a penalty the ref is likely to disregard it.

Bort also appears that he may have valid points when he says “personally he likes Willian but Willian always plays bad on the right side. Willian has to play where Hazard plays and unfortunately that ain’t gonna happen when Hazard is in the team.” Things may change in January or more likely the Summer break but until then we have what we have and Sarri continues to make both players participate in many of the Premier League matches. Morata 11 appearances vs Giroud 9 and Willian 12 appearances to Pedro 10.

They all 4 fine players they would have to be to play for one of Europe’s elite clubs, but they are not consistent which they have to be if they want to be regular starters. Personally I think we need two upgrades, a capable striker and a proper winger who can also bag a few goals.

Like the winger at Juventus Juan Cuadrado who failed at Chelsea and goes ok now or Mo Salah the winger/striker that also was very average with us and is now worth a stack. I wonder why that happens I really do.

I actually rated Salah when he was with us even more than De Bruyne. Can’t remember why we let him go though.

Liverpool faithful split on Fabinho

Inspired by the Hendo Watch thread, I think it might be a good idea to have a dedicated thread for us to digest Fabinho’s early performances in and also to track his progress.

I’ve rarely been more excited about a player than I am of Fabinho. It wasn’t looking amazing for him, when Klopp wasn’t even having him on the bench sometimes. We all thought “but Robertson” but I’ll admit about myself, there was still some worry/doubt. However, Fabinho’s last 2 performances were nearly perfect and if they are indeed a window into our future with this player, we’re in for such a treat.

I knew nothing about the guy before we signed him and even the signing itself was so out of the blue, it felt like it wasn’t such a big deal (no hype etc). Still, he was from that Monaco team and also the price in itself suggests the level of player he’s at least considered to be.

We don’t have much game-time from him, in which to make a firm judgement but he seems to have pace, physicality, defensive abilities (off the ball, tackling etc) and also offensive abilities (vision and implementation of a pass). With this, we’ve seemingly got a player who wins the ball better than our other number 6’s, while also being able to switch it to a more effective attack, faster than we usually would. That’s why I’m so excited.

Maybe I’m over-hyped. I don’t think I am.

From what I’ve seen so far, the one area that I’ve noticed straight away is that he seems to lack pace and a little awareness. Hopefully, he can improve in these areas. Time will tell…Peace.

4/10 for me, Arsenal away.

Unfortunately the nerves really showed, Fabinho wasn’t showing for the ball, wasn’t calm and composed with his touches, and I noticed a few occasions he was open and I think his teammates didn’t trust him and looked for another option.

He made a few tackles, but failed most of his attempts. Positionally he was reacting very slow and letting people run off him for most of the game. That got better toward the latter stages where he started to look less laboured and a little more intelligent with his position and movement, as the nerves settled. He even made a foray into the opposition box late on, which was well timed, but that was about it.

A bit of nerves is understandable, and perhaps once that settles we’ll see what he’s really about. But this was a poor performance, must do better.

He didn’t have the best of games but let’s not do Arsenal an injustice. They were good. Fabinho is just getting started in the Premiership & is learning that the top 6 in this league are CL level. We were unlucky not to take all the points & I’m sure Fab will have better games. Hendo with his experience might have got the nod from Jurgen had he not been injured. Ynwa.

This Man United team has to go

There’s definitely a need for a cull, even if it means paying part of some of those players wages for a number of years, not to get them off the wage bill but getting them the hell OUT of the club. To be honest, if Mourinho can’t do it, then we need to get a manager with the balls to stand up to Ed to get it done.

Agree we’ve paid over the odds for bang average players, I’ve been saying it since before Fergie left. If a DoF changes that, great, but there are plenty of clubs with a DoF that are still sh*te. Anyway, at least we all now seem to be in agreement that we haven’t shipped out the s**** and, with the odd exception, have brought the wrong players in.

Jm1502

Then we need to get a manager with the balls

Any picks?

Can’t find a naked pic of Max Allegri, sorry.
