One out-of-favour Liverpool wide man could be set to finally end his three-and-a-half year spell at Anfield, a report claims.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Lazar Markovic could potentially depart Anfield this month in favour of a move to Russian Premier League giants Spartak Moscow.

The Serbia international moved to Liverpool from Benfica back in 2014 for a fee of £20million, but is yet to make a competitive appearance for the club this season after falling out of favour.

The Echo states that while Spartak – who played Liverpool in this season’s Champions League – are hoping to strike a deal before the end of the month, they are not alone.

They face competition from West Brom, who are “understood to be considering an approach” as Alan Pardew eyes reinforcements ahead of a relegation battle.

The 23-year-old has just 18 months left on his contract, and has made just 34 appearances for the club since his arrival, scoring three times.
