Liverpool and Manchester United could benefit after Bayern reportedly put seven players on the transfer market in order to help fund their pursuit of Tottenham striker Harry Kane.
Bayern still need a replacement for Robert Lewandowski – who left for Barcelona in July 2022 – as Sadio Mane has had a turbulent time since moving to Bavaria. The Bundesliga champions have therefore set their sights on England star Kane to lead their attack.
They opened the bidding at £60million plus add-ons, but this was immediately rejected by Tottenham. Several outlets have reported that Bayern have returned with a second offer worth between £68-70m (plus bonuses), although this has also been pushed back by Spurs.
Uncertainty over their chase for Kane’s signature has resulted in Thomas Tuchel’s side identifying Manchester City ace Julian Alvarez as an alternative striker signing. Spurs, meanwhile, could hand their star player a new £400,000-a-week contract if he opts to stay in north London.
According to Sky Sports, Bayern are now planning to offload as many as seven players in order to help them get closer to Kane’s price tag, which Spurs have set at £100m.
Liverpool will be rubbing their hands together as Bayern are ready to sell both Ryan Gravenberch and Benjamin Pavard. Jurgen Klopp likes Gravenberch a lot and could now sign the 21-year-old to complete his midfield overhaul. Sky Sports state he will cost between €40-50m (£34-42.5m).
Liverpool have also looked into signing Pavard as their new right-back, in a move which would allow Trent Alexander-Arnold to play in midfield. Pavard’s price tag has been set at between €35-40m (£29.7-34m).
Man Utd could also be licking their lips amid Bayern’s decision. That is because midfielder Marcel Sabitzer, who spent last season on loan at Old Trafford, is available for an enticing fee. Bayern will ask for just €15m (£12.7m) for him, giving Erik ten Hag the chance to bolster his squad at a low cost.

Goalkeeper Yann Sommer is another who has been tipped to join Man Utd in recent months. But the Red Devils are now prioritising Andre Onana to replace David de Gea. Sommer looks set to join Inter, and the Nerazzurri will have to part with between €8-10m (£6.8-8.5m) to capture the shot-stopper.
Liverpool hero Mane could also be sold, and Bayern are even willing to take a financial hit to get him out of the door. After originally spending £35m on the Senegal international, they will now accept offers of just €20m (£17m) for him.
Making up the rest of the exit list are Sommer’s fellow keeper Alexander Nubel and right-back Bouna Sarr.
Bayern are going to extraordinary lengths to try and reach an agreement with Spurs for Kane, but it remains to be seen if their bold strategy will work as the Premier League club are desperate to retain him.
