Kostas Tsimikas

Liverpool could sign cover for Andy Robertson for as little as £12m, with Olympiakos reportedly happy to let Kostas Tsimikas leave for that price.

Reports earlier this week revealed that Liverpool were considering a move for Tsimikas. The champions do not have recognised backup for Robertson at left-back.

Liverpool have been linked with Norwich starlet Jamal Lewis. However, if they can’t prise him away from Carrow Road, then Tsimikas is an alternative.

The Greece international has impressed for Olympiakos since returning from a couple of loan spells in 2018. He played all 90 minutes in their recent Europa League defeat to Wolves.

When news of Liverpool’s interest arrived from Greece, a price tag of around £7m was touted. But according to the latest development, Liverpool may have to stretch their budget a little further.

According to the Daily Mail, Liverpool will have to beat competition from Leicester to sign Tsimikas. The Foxes may need to replace Ben Chilwell, who is heavily linked with Chelsea, and they have been tracking Tsimikas for over a year.

So too have Liverpool, though, and the Mail reveal that Olympiakos will not stand in Tsimikas’ way if they receive an offer of £12m.

The Greek champions have already lined up a replacement for Tsimikas, as they are targeting Miguel Trauco of Saint Ettiene. Hence, it appears as if they are bracing themselves for Tsimikas to leave.

The 24-year-old had been linked with Tottenham in the past, but could be headed to Anfield instead. In fact, the Mail say Liverpool have already informed Olympiakos of their interest.

Liverpool have first Lewis bid rejected

The other target Liverpool have for the left-back role, Jamal Lewis, was subject of a £10m bid from the Reds earlier this week.

However, despite the inclusion of a generous sell-on clause, Norwich turned the offer down.

The Canaries are believed to want around double that amount to consider parting ways with Lewis, despite their relegation to the Championship.

But they also possess interest in a young left-back who seems set to leave Liverpool himself.
